1. What is the Public File?
Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK media regulator.
The Public File contains details of elements Ofcom regulate over, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for the community we serve.
The Public File is available as a print out on request. Any comments on the file can be made to us or Ofcom.
2. News Bulletins
We live in an age where people expect to be able to get news 24 hours a day and Original 106.5 is committed to delivering this expectation to listeners in Bristol when you need it - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Original 106.5 is committed to broadcasting a mixture of local, national and world news. There are also regular sport, entertainment and business updates. News bulletins are aired on the hour 24 hours a day and every 20 minutes during weekday breakfast and drivetime. There is one extended news bulletin at 1pm (10 minutes) and a news/lifestyle programme, Bristol Tonight, at 6pm weekdays (30mins). All our bulletins are locally produced and presented. Between 8pm and 5am (7 days a week) we broadcast national news followed by a 2 minute local bulletin. All other times our bulletins are a mixture of national and local news.

6. Automation & Local Programming
Sometimes it is necessary to pre-record (sometimes called Automation) programmes on the station. We pre-record 8 hours weekdays. 12 hours on Saturdays and 10 hours on Sunday.
7. Events & Charities we support
Since its inauguration on May 20th, Original 106.5 has been actively involved in local community and charity projects. We also offer an ‘Original Action' opportunity to local charities, enabling their spokesperson to come to the studios and record a message, encouraging support of an event or charitable cause. This message is then played out 5 times a day for one week. Community involvement to date has included:
Original 106.5 were the main sponsors at this local music event in aid of British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and the MS Society. The festival was a sell-out and featured prominent local bands, such as The New Breeds and Bad Science, as well as acts from further afield.

Arco Avonmouth Big Event, 26th June 2007.
The Arco Big Event was held in aid of the Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal, and raised over £1000 for Bristol Children's Hospital. The day included a ‘grand raffle', charity concert and charity penalty shootout. The organiser, Rob Bennett, was invited into the studios to promote the event on the Breakfast Show and Original 106.5 were also present on the day to offer their support, including judging the worst-dressed colleague competition!

Original 106.5 recorded an ‘Original Action' message on behalf of chief fundraiser, Paul Hobbs, to increase awareness of the event and request support and participants.

Penny Brohn Cancer Care is Bristol Balloon Fiesta's ‘charity of the year'. They were invited to the studio to record a message highlighting the complementary care provided by the charity and urging people to offer their support during fundraising events at the Balloon Fiesta.
Hop Skip & Jump is a charity centre dedicated to helping children suffering life limiting illnesses and offering their families support. They recorded an Original Action message requesting support in fundraising for their centre.
Original 106.5 partnered Macmillan for this fundraising day. Companies were encouraged to dress down or even dress up and take a pound to their workplace to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support. Jo Hillis from Macmillan was invited into the studio for a Breakfast Show interview promoting the event, as well as recording Original Action messages played out in the weeks running up to the event. Presenters also encouraged participation on air. On the event day Jo was accompanied by Ricki, Jacqui and ‘The Originals' to collect money from local businesses.

8. Coverage Highlights
Original 106.5 commenced broadcasting on 20th May 2007. It is our intention to support and cover local events and groups.
9. Music Playlist
Original 106.5 has a playlist which focuses more on music that people actually listen to. We play music from today and the last five decades. Our playlist embraces all eras and genres - in common with most people's music collection.
