about fayeThis is the bit where I'm supposed to tell you a little bit about me, so lets start at the beginning. I'm Bristol born & bred, making my appearance into the world at Keynsham Hospital on Boxing Day bang smack in the middle of the 70s. My parents didn't have a car, so the local vicar took my mum to the hospital and my Dad cycled with my Nan on the back of his tandem to visit me. That was over 30 years ago, these days I'm a fully fledged grown up with my house and everything. I've never been one to do things conventionally, I'm not sure they knew what to do with me when I had my careers talk at school. It wasn't until I joined HTV Drama Workshop at 14 that I found a love of acting and life began to fall into place. I was quite lucky and got my Equity Card at 16 through a speaking part in Casualty, did tonnes of extra work before going off to study Theatre at Dartington College of Arts. Without giving you all the boring details, it was from there I landed a job working as a researcher for a Channel 4 programme, but missed my slice of the 'limelight'. Radio beckoned in the form of Galaxy 101, then to BBC Radio Bristol, Bath FM & Immedia Broadcasting. In the midst of all this, I also began work as a voiceover artist. I am that annoying woman who asks you to 'please hold'. Working here in Bristol for Original 106.5 is bliss. I feel blessed to work for a brilliant station in the city I love. So for a taste of Bristol, with some chilled out tunes and plenty of mash, make a date with me every week day morning at 10am. |

q & a
If they made the Original 106.5 movie my part would be played by...
Someone who is super slim and very gorgeous, just like me.
If you were not a DJ, what job would you be in?
An explorer or an adventurer. I'm not sure how good I'd be, I'm hopeless at map reading.
If you could change any part of your body what would it be?
I'd have better eyesight, although I actually quite like the colour of my eyes.
Favourite holiday destination?
Camping in Devon or Cornwall. There's nothing better than looking at such wide horizons & views, it is pure therapy.
What is your favourite colour?
Turquoise, my birth stone. I love its vibrancy.
When did you last go to the gym?
Can't remember, I'm running all the time. I belong to the Southville Running Club.
What is in your pockets?
Fresh air.
Who is your hero?
I'm not sure that I have a hero, but I have huge admiration for Paula Radcliffe, I think she's a real asset to the country.
What is your favourite place in Bristol?
There are so many favourites, the docks, the downs and Dundry - not to mention the view of the Suspension Bridge as you drive across the Long Ashton bypass, it lifts my heart every time.
Favourite website?
www.runnersworld.co.uk
What is the most you've ever spent of a pair of shoes?
Far too much and I can't even walk in them.
What is your most prized possession?
My home studio, it's my favourite corner of my flat!
What is your favourite moment at Original 106.5 so far?
When my studio started to collapse while talking live on air, knocking a pint of water over the desk in the process. It made for an interesting link!
What was your last lie?
That I'm super slim and very gorgeous.
I want to get started in radio! (Your tip?)
Be prepared to start at the bottom and do every job you are asked - no matter how low it may seem, with good grace.
Dicker X
