about charles

Charles didn't always know he was going to become a newsreader.

At first he thought a career using his languages would be a good route.

A keen linguist, he studied French and German at Warwick University.

Following on from his Bachelor's degree, he pursued his interest in the media through a Master's in Film and Television Studies at Warwick, while also being heavily involved in his student newspaper and campus radio station.

Charles earned his first job in radio at Vale FM in North Dorset, after completing his MA in Multimedia Journalism at Bournemouth University.

There he spent 18 successful months as a newsreader and reporter for both Vale FM and its sister station in Dorchester, Wessex FM.

He presented Original Sixty Minutes every weekday morning between 6 and 7.

Charles was also Original 106.5's breakfast newsreader, and kept you updated through till 10 every morning.

Charles thoroughly enjoys life at Original 106.5. "Original 106.5 has a great team", he says. "I have the best job in the world".

You can catch him on Bristol Tonight, weekdays from 6pm.

Probably the USA. There are 50 states to choose from.

World's Most Irritating Corrector of Co-workers' grammar. Surely I don't have to thank anyone? They should be thanking me!

What is your most prized possession?
My mobile phone. Without it, I'd have to use my brain to remember numbers instead.

What is your favourite moment at Original 106.5 so far?
When they said: "You've got the job".

What was your last lie?
I honestly can't remember. Honest.

I want to get started in radio! (Your tip?)
Get involved in student radio, compile jingles, listen to other radio stations, do your own show, digest the dictionary, write flawless cover letters and CVs, be keen to do everything, always offer to make tea. Smile and show your personality. People might not see it, but they can hear it. Ok, that's more than one tip but it's all good advice!
