about jed

From the dulcet Midlands tone, you may well be aware that I come from Nottingham although my school did try to beat that out of me. I have had a rather mixed career in radio where I worked at BBC GLR, Jazz FM and Wiltshire Sound in the UK and FM 92 in Canada. I also co-designed fantasy football as a newspaper game for the Daily Telegraph which led to me being a columnist for the newspaper, something I still do today. On the TV front, I joined ITV West (HTV) in 2000 as their Head of Sport. I immediately gave myself the job as sports presenter and have produced and presented many shows since, although I have given up producing. I won both the EDF Sports Journalist and the RTS TV Personality of the Year awards in 2007. Soccer Night returns on October 25. I also currently present at both ITV West and ITV Wales, write a column in the Bristol Evening Post and I am producing a documentary on Michael Jackson's Thriller LP which is 25 years old this year. It airs on BBC Radio 2 in December and I am hopeful to go one better and get a gold award at the Sony's having won a bronze this year for a documentary on songwriter Rod Temperton.

I've loved the opportunity to do the Breakfast Show at Original. It gets me out of bed in the morning which I am notoriously bad at as I do tend to spend too much time in the pub. I am not a classical DJ which means you never quite know what to expect from the Breakfast Show largely because I often engage my mouth long before my brain is into gear. One thing I try not to do is impressions. In the 90s I used to do voices of sports stars on BBC GLR (the station which spawned Chris Evans) rather than get the real people on the show. I was then offered a job on Radio 5 doing impressions and worked alongside Jon Culshaw every week. To say I was in awe was an understatement. At least I used to beat him at darts every week in the pub after the show was recorded. So make sure you listen every weekday between 7 and 10. Please. Thank-you. And you. And you...etc...
