Art at the Square
Three is a magic number this December as Art at the Square opens its final exhibition of the year with exclusive work specially commissioned from a host of Bristol’s cutting edge talent.
More than two dozen artists will be producing one piece of work based on the number 3 - so it’s a numbers game for people looking for a unique Christmas gift.
One-off paintings, prints, photographs - and even puppets - from the likes of Jimmy Galvin, Rebecca Howard, Kitty Mudy, James Starr and Alison Black, who have all exhibited at the Square this year, will be on show and available to buy. 1LoveArt, an online portal for original urban and modern art, is also involved in the show and putting forward some work from their highly credible roll call of artists.
Curator Catherine Raspail was keen to avoid a Christmas theme because, after all, art is for life not just for Christmas. “When I asked what number the featured artists liked three was a recurring favourite, so that’s the theme!
“This is a great opportunity to bring together the talent that we have showcased this year and for people to purchase some affordable and fun art.”
Art at the Square Winter Exhibition opens on December 10th with a private viewing (closes end Feb). The exhibition can be viewed Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm.

This Christmas the Tobacco Factory Theatre presents a lively new adaptation of a heart-warming family favourite.
As a young man, Ebeneezer Scrooge dreamed of being a world-class inventor. But that was long ago, before life turned his ambition to dust and left him a bumbling, grouchy old miser who can’t even see the point of Christmas.
This seasonal night however, his world is about to be turned upside down when some rather unexpected guests arrive to whisk him away on a whirlwind journey through the strange and vivid landscapes of his past, present and future…
Set against a backdrop of Dickensian Bristol, A Christmas Carol promises to be another fabulously entertaining production with a cast of hilarious characters, larger than life performances and fantastic original songs that you will be humming right into 2009.
